Happy 1 Month Birthday Little Sis!

Today is Madeleine's 1 Month Birthday (she dressed up for the occasion)...Pa and Nana invited us all over for dinner (Pa always remembers to give me lots of treats, so even after a busy day at daycare, I was able to muster enough energy to take a few shots of the celebration)...
A special Madeleine shout-out to Grandma and Opa: "Thank you for the beautiful flowers."

EXCLUSIVE!

Early this morning, Madeleine came to the terrible realization that she was about to turn one month old. For you see, she was very afraid that with age, she might not be considered as cute.
Fortunately, I explained to her that she was dreaming and had nothing at all to be concerned about. A moment of clarity followed.
Then, things were back to normal,
and as I'm sure you can agree, she is getting even cuter with age.
Here is the moment you have all be waiting for. An exclusive Mr Burns Dog Blog shot of baby-M in her sharp-looking new pair of blue jeans. This may very well be the outfit she wears when she turns the big 1 month tomorrow. Although, she has some other spiffy threads that she is waiting to show off. Be sure to check back tomorrow for all the latest. Burns out!

Saturday

Today's highlight included a trip to the Steveston Hotel for breakfast and my mother was kind enough to throw some bacon my way. This would be a handy place to make a public service announcement: please remember that if you happen upon me, I would be more than willing to relieve you of any excess bacon you might happen to be carrying around with you.
Okay, in all seriousness I have taken some amazing pictures of Madeleine today but alas, I am beginning to feel somewhat lightheaded, the vet thinks it might be due to my appallingly low bacon intake recently.
In this next picture, if you look deep into her eyes, you might be getting a little distracted from the fact that you really ought to be thinking about how much bacon you might be able to get me, so focus!
Madeleine is doing her part. As you can see, she is reaching out in an effort to provide some needed bacon. Unfortunately, she is less than a month old and doesn't have any bacon.
Everyone looks mighty pleased with themselves don't you think? How can they all be so happy when my next bacon will probably be a week away? Sigh...

Day 25

Time sure does fly when you are having fun.... My baby sister seems to be here to stay, which is fine with me, but she is definitely giving me a run for my money with all the GBs of the computer's hard-drive she is taking up with her photos. In the past three and a half weeks, more than 500 photos have been taken of her. Of course, I am fine with that because I have been busy with updating this blog and have had less time to pose for photographs. Thanks to Madeleine, we have a few new pics to share.

Madeleine with her friend Sienna who came over for a visit. I played host.
After a long day...

Lazy Sunday

It was a beautiful day today and Madeleine insisted on having a bath!
And when Madeleine calls, you have to accept the charges.
So clean as a whistle and dressed to the nines, she was ready for another visit. This time the gentleman caller was Gavin, himself on the eve of his own adventure. Word has it, he'll have a blog too. Look for the link in the future!
In fact, she looked so good today I absolutely insisted on there being a family portrait. Alas, mom was hard at work with dinner so she couldn't be in the picture. Indeed, she hasn't been in the blog nearly enough recently as it seems that Dad has become a camera hog. Remedy assured for future blog entries!!

Three weeks old.

Today was baby M's three week birthday. That's an amazing 21 weeks in dog weeks. So far she has learned a lot from me. Already her parents are pretty much doing whatever she wants, whenever she wants. She really is my sister, no doubt about it.
When I was small. Dad used to play airplane with me too.
She is an extremely happy baby.
And is always up for a good laugh.
But can always be serious if the time requires it, now just happens not to be that time.

Day 16

Baby Madeleine is capable of amazing acts of superhuman strength. Here she is in preparation for just such a dazzling feat!

On such occasions, she astonishes even herself.
And mum couldn't be more proud.
Dad is awestruck.
But me, I say big deal. Only today I destroyed a toy sent all the way from Newfoundland in no time flat. Bring it on!

Two Weeks In!

Wow, being a big brother and updating a blog is a lot of work...
I know what you're all thinking, where are the Mr Burns-in-hat pictures? They're coming I promise, but for now how about this cutie?
Today we had some more visitors. Mike, Paola and Lucas came with lovely gifts and a sneak-peak at what parenthood holds in a couple of years. Note: no dogs are allowed at London Farm, so I had to be extra sneaky in taking this picture.
What could she be thinking?
I can tell you what I'm thinking: when do I get to ride in the sling?
Last Friday was take Madeleine to the office day. She was by all accounts, a big hit...
at both offices.
Mum and dad are both quite enjoying the first two weeks of parenthood.
As are the grandparents.

Oh Joy!

Today, Madeleine's umbilical cord finally fell off. I was most attracted to the overwhelming odour it emitted, but my parents are grateful that it is gone. They weren't such fans of the smell. At 11 days, Madeleine has enjoyed several walks to Steveston, a ride on a bus, brunch at Joe's Grill (Mom and Dad's favourite and my source for bacon), and a Kathy's baby shower. I am very impressed. Here are some photos from the past day or so.

As you can see Madeleine is already a hat model. She received two very cute ones as gifts today. If you check out the side panel of my blog, you will see that she is taking to hats just like her big brother. She is putting up some real competition, but I still think I am cuter in my cowboy hat.

Double Digits!!

On the momentous occasion of her reaching the milestone of ten days old, baby Madeleine has caused me to reflect back to the halcyon days of my time as a puppy, when all I cared about was eating, sleeping and looking cute. Actually, that's all I still care about.
While taking this nice shot, we were discussing the need for the Canucks to make a major splash in free agent market in the off season if they hope to avoid missing the playoffs again next year. She thinks that Linden should come back for one more year, she is obviously listening to her mother too much.
After that long conversation (so long she had to change outfits), it was time for a little nap.
We had some guests over tonight to celebrate Madeleine's 10-day birthday. Sid and Kara brought over some amazing presents and look pretty darn good with the baby.

Blasts from the past
