20 months old

Early this morning, Baby M and I engaged in a little small talk. I asked "How's it going?" Madeleine responded, "Pretty good, but why does today feel like a special day? It must be something but I can't quite figure out what it is."
Then, there was a moment of realization: "Oh hang on, I know what it is! I'm 20! Months old that is."
To celebrate leaving her teen-months in the dust, Madeleine got dressed for a special trip...
To the Richmond Olympic Oval, for the last day the public are allowed on the ice.
Snack in hand, Madeleine was all set.
Madeleine's good friend Quatchi came out for the celebration.
Time for a wee spin around the track.
And another.
Baby M decided a silly face was also an appropriate way to celebrate.
Mom took a nice picture of me, Baby M and Dad.
Near!
Far!
We topped a lovely evening off with a long stroll along the river, which allowed for this lovely shot of Baby M with Nana and Pa(w).

Cuteness Show Down!

Oh no, it's another cuteness show down.
Baby M goes first, and starts off strong.
In addition to unqualified cuteness, here Madeleine is bringing some joy to Pa(w)'s birthday.
Hmm, hair's a bit crazy but a strong cuteness effort nonetheless. How to pick a winner?
Oh, very impressive cuteness. Might be tough to beat.
Wow! I must say that cuteness might just take the cake!
Oh, but what is this then? With one single effort, it looks like we might have a cuteness supreme. Yup no doubt about it, super duper cuteness champion...
...and the basset ain't bad either.

Winter Fashion Show

Now Mr Burns' dog blog is the place to go on the internet for just about anything, including fashion. Vogue.com beware!! For those of you wondering what is in style for winter 2009, Baby M put on a little show tonight. It was sort of a sneak preview of what is sure to be hot this season and of course because I am the Lagerfeld of the canine world, you just knew I had to be there, zoom lens in hand.
Strutting her stuff on the catwalk.
The famous "Blue Steel" signature look.
The ubiquitous stop and lean pose.
The key to any good modeling gig: look either pissed off or bored. Madeleine manages to do both at once.
Tilting her head, just like a pro! Work it girl! The camera loves you baby!
The complete ensemble, gloves and all. Good night!

Halloween 2009: the Great Basset Tragedy!

I don't believe it, I call for anti-costume support and the survey ends up with 100 per cent IN FAVOUR of torturing me. Was it international backwards day and nobody told me? Look what they made me do:
Man's ex-best friend.

Babies in costume? Heck, yes. Humble basset hounds in costume, heck no!

Well the hat part of the outfit is off, but I'm still upset so no way am I looking at the camera.
But I will take this cool shot of Madeleine with her grandparents.

Madeleine works on her duck-walk.
Madeleine and some of her friends in what I must say are some pretty sweet outfits.

Hmm, should a duck be so close to a lion? I'd watch your candy if I were you Baby M.Madeleine has this trick-or-treating thing down pat.
Darkness will not stop a duck hungry for candy.

Oh, the humanity! At least there are 364 days until I have to do this all again...
