Little Sister About to Turn Two

Ahoy there loyal dog blog readers. There's been a lot of hullaballoo recently about the fact that Baby M (or Mini as she is now referring to herself) is about to turn two. Cards and packages have been arriving for her at such a torrid pace that I'm sure that she's singlehandedly keeping Canada Post afloat. And what about this meagre basset? Nada! Zilch! Well, actually I have to give a warm shout out to my cousin Malarkey from Ottawa who sent me a pretty sweet tartan bandana. For the rest of you, I expect this one-sided favouritism to end pronto! I like treats and chewy toys. I also accept cheques and money orders. They can be made out to first name: Mister, middle name: Period, last name: Burns.
See that grin on her face? Mini knows she's in for gifts galore come tomorrow.
Even though her second birthday is actually tomorrow, the festivities got underway today with a family trip to the Vancouver Aquarium.
Madeleine gets a close up look of... something!
Opa quite literally lent Madeleine a helping hand with a tour of the exhibits.
The ladies are happy.
I took this nice family portrait, although I wonder where Mom wondered off to?
Grandma and Madeleine in front of the baby Beluga exhibit.
Baby Beluga is of course one of Madeleine's favourite tunes, but I wonder if that is still the case after one of the great fish, or mammal I suppose, gave us all a good soaker! This is Madeleine before, in the interests of decency, I'll refrain from posting the after shot.
Grandma and Madeleine in the aptly-titled "Splash Zone".
The Birthday Girl.
Baby M with her Papa.

I'm not too sure why there's a baby Kermit car ride in the  Aquarium but obviously Madeleine got a real kick out of it.
Come back tomorrow to get the inside scoop on what went down at Mini's party. Burns man out!

Madeleine's Sunday Stroll

Today, Madeleine and I, along with Nana, Papa, Uncle Aaron, Auntie Penny (my personal fave) and Mom walked to Steveston. Thankfully, the grey skies cleared up just in time. Our destination, as it frequently is, Starbucks!
Papa and Nana treated us all (well, hey, I decided to abstain as I am more of a tap water guy) to a drink of choice. Madeleine had great fun drinking her first ever hot chocolate (half-sweet ordered by Mom). With a week until her 2nd birthday, she really is growing up.

Delicious! Or so I am told, as chocolate is poison to us dogs.
Mom with a paralympic torch at UBC. Congratulations to the Canadian Paralympians and their 19 medals!

Long time, no blog

Hello out there, we're on the air, it's blog-ey time tonight. Sorry for the long, long delay between blog posting. You might have thought that it was the Olympic hangover, but actually the home computer went totally haywire for no apparent reason. I guess that's what you get for using a decade old computer... Sigh. Well my folks say that they are saving their loonies and hopefully I'll have a brand spanking new computer soon and then I promise blog entries a plenty. In the meantime check out the picture from last week's Oscar's party - guaranteed to be more exciting than the Academy Awards themselves.
Mmm cupcakes. Actually, each of the Best Picture nominees are represented. See if you can't pick 'em out.
Hey, is that Julia Child?
Aaron as Avatar and Penny as Up.
Dad as the Hurt Locker and Mom as Up in the Air. Baby M of course is also Up (a popular costume choice and my favourite movie.)
This costume was great but beware the spiked ceiling!

The Storybook Ending

Sorry for the delay in posting... but I'm still recovering from the Greatest Moment in Canadian History!

The Olympics were one absolutely wild two week ride, but by far the biggest event of the whole thing was of course the Canada - USA hockey game for the gold medal.
We found the best Mountie ever. Mustachio Fantastico!
Where did we watch the game? Heineken House of course because it doesn't get more Canadian than that.
Madeleine wants to know when the next Olympics are coming to Vancouver.
Springtime, bring it on.
Hi Ladies!!
