Weekend fun

Hello there loyal dog blog readers! Here's what we've been up to lately.

Hanging out in our old home - counting down the days until we get all that extra space!
Enjoying, the err, nice Vancouver summer weather?!?
Actually one of the highlights was going down to Iona Beach for a little footie! Madeleine is gearing up for the World Cup.
"Pass to me Moma! I'm open."
A race for the free ball.
Don't tell M, she can't use her hands, it will ruin the fun.
There was also a visit to Burnaby to check out this sweet model train park. Despite the deluge Madeleine enjoyed herself.

May Two-Four

You can really feel that summer is in the air! We've begun that amazing stretch where every month has a long weekend. There was a little bit of rain early on, but that did stop the Baby M from putting the roof down and driving off to the Children's Festival in Kitsilano.
We went to a concert, which was fun, but didn't allow photography. To be completely honest - and I always am - there wasn't a whole lot going on at this so-called festival. Well, there were tall giraffes. Or at least one. And I guess it's not that tall. And it's made of wood. And it was actually outside the festival...
No matter, the lack of anything to do meant that there was lots of time for photos.
Lots and lots of time.
This weekend was also Mom's Birthday. Here Madeleine helps her wish for a better Children's Festival next year.
Cuteness.
By popular request, here's an encore photo from Uroma's visit last weekend. Auf wiedersehen!

Visitors!

Opa was in town this weekend for the big event: his 60th birthday.
This of course is a really big deal, so much so that his mother came all the way from Ottawa for the big party. This was her first time ever in BC.

For those of you on this Earth who aren't regular dog blog readers (all three of you), would it surprise you to know that Baby M is a tree lover? This occasionally causes a conflict between her and I.
To further her appreciation for nature, Madeleine suggested that we all head off to the Bloedel Conservatory to check out some flora and fauna. As you can see, Baby M was the guide of this safari.
Oh no! What is this wild beast with the big melon that's snagged Madeleine? Whew, it's only Dad.
In all seriousness there all lots of smart talking birds...
and plenty of lovely flowers. Yet the geniuses at the Park Board want to close it. The best thing you can do to prevent this tragedy is go visit the Bloedel Conservatory yourself.
Cuteness intermission!
Family time!
A quiet walk in the park.
Madeleine tells her Uroma all about the big day tomorrow. First stop...
Stanley Park!
Home of many totem poles.
Opa had this wise idea to do a mock photo with ascending generations as part of the pole.
The highlight of the whole weekend of course was Opa's birthday party.
Baby M and Momma hanging out on the patio at the Granville Island Hotel, scene of the crime.
Here is Opa showing off his framed Mr. Hockey autographed photo.
The main event was the birthday cake. 60 years old, I don't event think they make a calculator powerful enough to figure out what that is in dog years.
Madeleine had no problem-o finishing off her slice.
The birthday party was pretty special and made for some awesome photo-ops. Enjoy!

Bonus photo! So the GM of the Canucks says that part of the problem with the team this year was that they weren't big enough..

Canucks Epic Fail

Well what did you expect? After not winning anything since 1967 the blowout tonight was entirely predictable. For 7 million dollars, I could let in 17 goals in three home games. Sheesh. For those in need of a little hockey related comfort after this repeat debacle against the Blackhawks, check out Madeleine's cover of an old Stompin' Tom Ditty. Go Habs, Go!

Happy Mother's Day

Hopefully you all called your mothers today! Here's two moms, two daughters and one Nana.
Baby M and Nana.
Madeleine and her Momma.
Not sure what Madeleine is doing here but it's pretty cute.
Again with Nana.
It was a beautiful weekend in B.C.
And beautiful weekends make for beautiful photographs.
Man's best friend.

Woe Is Me

I am a simple basset. I like simple things in life: sleeping, eating, walking and sleeping. In return for not demanding too much, I ask only that I be spared exposure to the usual reasonable things that sane individuals wish to avoid: vegetables, country music and baths. Oh the humanity that is bath day!
A quick hop and a dash - a lightning bolt of black and white - escape is at hand but for Madeleine acting as sentry.
Prostests do nothing but delay the inevitable.
A kiss from a sweet maiden and courage flows through my veins.

Might as well just laugh it off and accept the inevitable.

If you think I'm actually going to show the undignified moment of getting soaked, you don't know me very well. Over and out.

Blasts from the past
