Summertime
Well we've been tempted for a little bit now, but this weekend was definitely the first real sample of summer. HOT!! Lucky for Baby M she has a shady hat and no fur coat.

Madeleine and Pa(w) do a little bird watching.
No solo walking yet, but soon.
This apparently is the dress of the season.

Mount Baker
Fresh on the heels of the last weekend getaway, the whole family trucked off to its favourite little cabin in the USA. This was the second trip to the chalet for Baby M.
Memorial Day Weekend 2008
Memorial Day Weekend 2009 (52 weeks later)
Madeleine has learned quite a bit in the past year, for example: hiking.
Relaxing.
Swimming.
The purpose of the vacation was to help celebrate Mom's 30th birthday. Check out the cake.
The birthday girl and her little girl.
Mount Baker is beautiful in the summer. Here Dad and Madeleine go bear hunting.
Madeleine waves to a courier du bois.

Madeleine was in a great mood for most of the trip, especially in the car. The bad news is she seems to be acquiring the skill of the temper tantrum, particularly when it comes to taking the car keys from her. This was her in non-tantrum mode.

Alas this trip was unfortunately Grandma and Opa's last weekend out West. They will be missed. Hopefully they will be back very, very soon.

Kelowna
So the family went back to the Okanagan to celebrate Opa's 59th birthday and to continue the search begun last year for the world famous Ogopogo.
Why so sad Madeleine? Is it because you're not in the hot tub?

Well don't worry because the hot tub is coming right up!
I took this picture because the hotel has this bizarre policy of no canines in the pools. How peculiar!
This was a big trip for Baby M as she got to meet another kind of four-legged creature. This guy was friendly, hungry and had unspeakably bad teeth.
Both Baby M and Opa could obviously use some picture posing lessons; don't blame the photographer.
Everyone keeping an eagle eye peeled for the Ogopogo.
Baby M wanted to take a dip in Lake Okanagan, but Opa broke the sad news that freezing cold Canadian lakes and toddlers don't mix all that well.
Dad and Madeleine go exploring in the local nut farm (not to be confused with the funny farm that I'm working hard on sending Dad to visit).
Family portrait!!
Family portrait the sequel!!
There was a little time for a winery visit, or three.
Success!! Finally the Ogopogo located! So all in all, with the exception of a very minor incident, the trip proved to be a success. Check back soon for the family get-away to Mount Baker.
Well don't worry because the hot tub is coming right up!

Happy Mother's Day.
Today was Mother's Day (hopefully all of you loyal dog blog readers called yours) which is also the day all of the non-locals decent en-masse into our sleepy little fishing village for brunch and photo ops, like this one.
And this one.
The whole family assembled for some Eggs Benedicts. Yum.
All the mothers and a Baby M.
Anna and Madeleine.
"Where are your sunglasses Madeleine?" "I wear my sunglasses at night."
The men get a chance to pose with Madeleine down by the bay, or errr river.
Mother's Day bonus content!!!
Madeleine rocking the Newfoundland tartan.

Walking Training.
I was able to walk when I was like 10 days old. Madeleine is of course well into her first year and no first steps yet. Time to pick up the slack and this beautiful Sunday provided an absolutely perfect training day.
Getting ready.
Go!
Getting pretty close. Any day now I'd say.
Enough walking for one day. Time for some pictures.

Dad has a go.
