Lucky 7

Can you believe how fast time flies by when you're having fun? Yesterday, if you can believe this, was Madeleine's 7 month birthday!

To celebrate, she did a little dance.
A cake for the season.
"Hey Nan and Pa(w), thanks for the present."
"Now let me at it!"

"Presents are one thing, but when am I going to get a piece of my own cake?"

Yup, it's been pretty busy round Casa de Burns lately. Today, mom hosted a pre-Halloween, Halloween party. Check out the sweet costumes:

Even newborn Jack joined in the fun.

Trick or Treat.

So anyway, remember during the last post wherein I described for you the ritual of Halloween and the ridiculous nature of this so-called holiday? Well this year certainly takes the cake (and it's not even close to the 31st yet!). On Saturday morning, there was a Growloween on West 4th. This is where all the local proprietors open up their shops and dispense all sorts of treats to the unfortunate canines who were in costume.

No doubt, my parents jumped at the opportunity to embarrass me in public and off we went. Brace yourselves and, if you dare, scroll down to see my costume...
Yup, Hot Dog. You would not believe how many gawkers there were. The pawparazzi were everywhere. I scored many yummy treats so I suppose it was all worth while, in the end. Who do you think that hippopotamus is? You guessed it, it's Madeleine. Pretty cute I think. After the four-legged trick-or-treating in Kits, we were off to the more civilized Steveston for the kids Halloween. My grandparents came along for that adventure. On Sunday, there was more Halloween stuff to do. Off we all went to the local pumpkin patch in search of the perfect pumpkin and perhaps, the Great Pumpkin himself. Four moms, four babies and many pumpkins.Everybody smile! Madeleine, no goofy faces! That's better. Well Baby M, which one will it be? Stay tuned for the actual Halloween blog entry, which promises to be quite spooktacular!

By popular demand.
Well, once again the people have spoken. Although the polls aren't officially closed yet, all hope for me to maintain the last shred of dignity is lost, as the CBC has declared the winner by a landslide.

Here, by overwhelmingly popular demand, are some of the more traumatic moments of my short life.

Bee Dog Burns.
Pumpkin Burns. Cowboy Burns. Darth Basset. The power of the Force demands that you give me a treat!

Orange you glad to see me?

Yes indeed, Halloween is right around the corner. My absolutely least favourite time of year. I really don't understand humans at all. My understanding of the purpose of this "holiday" is for my parents to dress me up in absolutely ridiculous outfits. There are some pretty absurd photos of me out there, I imagine that you wouldn't what me to relive those moments by having them posted on the blog? Please confirm my suspicions in the latest poll. Hopefully this year, Baby M will be a distraction and they'll forget all about me...

Anyways, the colour of Halloween in orange, and Madeleine is certainly in the spirit.

Orange Shirt!

Orange Hat!
Late breaking news!
Baby M is getting her first tooth. One can never be too early with proper oral hygiene, at least that's my opinion. Madeleine listens to my sage advice and decides gives her toothbrush a whirl. As always, I had the camera at the ready.

Next Stop, Cuteness!

Everybody ready for a ride on the Baby M's cute train? Hang on to your hats.
Cauliflower, of course, was no match for a hungry Madeleine.
Check it out, camouflage! Madeleine blends in with the pillow.
Madeleine puts her best pose forward in tribute to all the patient dog blog readers.
Coming attraction! Madeleine's First Halloween.
Her costume is ready and so is baby M. Can't give too much away, you'll just have to wait and see. I can say, without engaging in any hyperbole, it will be the greatest blog post of all time. To tide you over, here's a clip of my long-lost cousin Floyd doing his thang.

Nice day for a walk!

A week in the life of Miss Madeleine

Hello loyal dog blog readers. It has taken me a while to muster up the strength to update the blog after the feast of Thanksgiving turkey. I promise I won't have the same difficulties after Christmas dinner. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the log of what my family and I have been up to this week.
Well, there was obviously a little maxin' & relaxin'.
Baby M had lots and lots of play dates. Here's Mila enjoying her own reflection.
Andrew is not willing to part with his blanket at any price.
Connor enjoying the good times.
Here's a Burns-eye view of Baby M in the jungle-jumparoo.
And in action.
Winter? Madeleine says: "bring it on". Check out the sweet jacket made by Great-Grandma.
Whew, time for a nap.
And another. Again, she is definitely my sister. No doubt about it.
I am a simple dog really. All I really want is a tummy rub. Thanks Dad.
