Cross Canada Adventure, the sequel.

So the family decided that notwithstanding the fact that Air Canada is virtually guaranteed to mess up any vacation in Canada where air travel is required, the family opted to roll the dice and headed across this fair land of ours for the second annual Cross Canada Adventure!!

This second go around was not to be any ordinary jaunt across the country, but one involving jaunts across time too. How you ask? 88 miles per hour and 1.21 gigawatts, that's how. Behold:

OH NO! The Delorean had a major malfunction and sent Baby M and Dad back to 1867.
Whew, back to 2009 and Madeleine could not be happier.
While the sightseeing and time travel were lovely, the main fun was visiting with family.

Here's Dad, Madeleine with her great-grandparents.
And alone with great-grandad.
Three generations.
Relaxing with Janet and Brian.
Madeleine shares a moment with Uroma.
Madeleine having a blast with her great Aunt and great host Siobhan.

With Paul and Nancy, who brought some lovely clothing gifts for Madeleine which will assuredly be featured in a future blog entry.
And of course with Grandma and Opa who came up to Ottawa before their trip to the People's Republic of China.
Great-Grandma, Dad and the Baby M.
Great-Aunt Janet.
Grandma with Madeleine.

In addition to family, Dad's good friend Shaun lives in the Nation's Capital.

"Hey guys, this is central Canada and it's summer, isn't it about time we head to the cottage?"
"That's more like it." And no, you don't need to adjust your sets, that ain't me but my good buddy Malarkey, Golden Retriever extraordinaire.
Baby M and Dale chat about the stock market.
Baby M down by the lake.
Mom and daughter take a dip.
Madeleine says swimming is for suckers, I'm taking the speedboat for a spin.
And then it was time for a wee nap.
Seek out some shade.
What a lovely couple of days, the last night Dale and Siobhan took everyone out for a fancy dinner. It seemed like nothing could possibly ruin this amazing vacation.
And then Air Canada got involved. Will our heroes escape the preposterous incompetence of Canada's airline monopoly and make it to Newfoundland, or will they be sentenced to an eternity to hell on earth (eg. Mississauga?). Tune it next time to find out, same bat time, same bat channel.

Blog Hiatus

Ahh, vacation time.
Well, it's been way too hot in Vancouver recently. I'm outta here. There will be a wee break in the blog postings. Now is a good time for y'all to go back in the archives and look at all the adventures of the past year and a half. Be sure to check back in mid-August for what is sure to be a huge posting.
One Baby M photo, for the road.

Triple Feature.

Oh loyal dog blog reader! Do you recall, in a not-long-ago era, the golden age of cinema if you will, the double feature? It is amongst the many things lacking from the movie going experience of 2009. Well, this blog entry takes you back and adds another for good measure, behold the triple feature: ... Well actually like any trip to the theatre, first you must watch the coming attractions.

Young Ms Madeleine has a dream...
of being a cowgirl.
Coming soon, Cowgirl in a Pink Hat.
Also coming soon: Cuteness.
And next summer, the blockbuster: The Standoff.
And now our feature presentations:

The Dancing Machine

The Belly

The Bellybutton.

NOT Camping.

Ahoy there dog blog readers. I am happy to report that I am safe and sound at home after the camping adventure and I've almost got the smell of campfire out of my beautiful fur. This is now my favourite time of year as it is the longest possible time before I get dragged out to the next trip to the great outdoors.

The sun was out again today, providing for yet another wicked awesome BC summer day.
When you go outside, don't forget your hat.
Baby M enjoying life.
Madeleine learns a new trick, the ol' pulling your shirt over your head.
"Hey Madeleine, where's your bellybutton?"

Camping Take Two

The avid dog blog reader might recall that about this time last year, the old family dragged me out on this idiotic outdoor adventure they called camping. For those unfamiliar with this particularly tragic episode of my existence, go back in the blog history.

Well this year I prepared ahead knowing full well that humans never learn and would attempt this foolhardy expedition once again. I made the appropriate sacrifice to the Gods of Golden Ears and seemingly they were appeased and we were blessed with nothing but sunshine.

First things first was setting up the new abode. Madeleine did her fair share, by posing in front of it after assembly and looked pretty.

One of the highlights was a nice long hike. We found this wicked hollow tree.
The hike was long, luckily there was this nice stream that allowed us to relax and cool down.
Me after a dip in the stream.
After a long hike, everybody needed a wee rest.
After the naps, it was time for some photo-ops.
Madeleine and Pa(w) down by the river.

A post-dip-in-the-river picture.

Check out the hightops.
Another sweet tree.
Baby M and Daddy.
Baby M and Momma.

It also happened to be Dad's 31st birthday, so old there wasn't enough room for all the candles.
Now you can see why I'm just not into this camping thing. What am I, a foot stool!?!
